Gathering of Mustangs
September 27 - 30
The Mustang Club of Ohio
participated in the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends over the weekend of
Sept. 27-30th. We had several club members volunteer to work at the event
which had an attendance of over 150,000 estimated. Those volunteering were,
Jim Rouse, Jim McLeaster, Ron Gallagher, Marilyn Black, Teresa and Toni
Gale, Pat Todoran, Larry Shy, Steve Vagnier,
Deb and Mark Sedlock, Herb Gordon and
myself. Not all these volunteers were called upon
to work,as there were over a thousand volunteers working the show.
We were also honored to be a part of the event with a display of our
club Mustangs. Showing off their steeds were, Marilyn Black, Katy and Chris
Kennedy, Herb Gordon, Rose and Jim Rouse, Toni
Gale, and myself. I would like to thank all who
participated in the event on behalf of the MCO. Special thanks to Jim Rouse
for organizing this volunteer effort from the very beginning in February. I
would also like to thank MCO members Gary Payne, Mike Brining and Shane
Gibson for their help along the way in making this happen. We also were
honored with a photo shoot with the P-51 Mustang, Red Dog XII piloted by
Duane Doyle from Livermore Ca., this was set up by Mr. Chris Kennedy of the
MCO. Big Thank You to Chris! This event was about the Mustangs and Legends.
The Legends were the fine people that flew, and
supported the P-51's during wartime. We all owe them a great debt of
gratitude for their sacrifices to this great Country we call the Land of the
Free! The Mustang part of the show was the legendary P-51 Mustang which is "
Arguably the greatest fighter of all time" The P-51 Mustang's prototype made
it maiden flight in 1940 and remained in service in various air forces
around the world into the 1980's!!This is a testament to it's longevity and
capabilities. I attached a couple pictures
I took at the event.
